Quick Saturday Post!

Hey guys!

Just wanted to give you a quick update before I start running my Saturday errands :)

We were finally able to apply for our passports! (Happy dance!) After waiting a good 45mins we got our pictures done, had our applications and birth certificates looked at, and everything looked great! The town clerk sent them out for us and we should be getting them in the next 4-6 weeks. That was a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders!

My first Disney Driven Life blog post was published on the blog! Check it out! I have to thank Jenifer (@lilsqueakrr on twitter) for letting me interview her for my first blog entry. I have three more that will be put up on the blog in the next three weeks and I'll constantly be working on new material for the site. Oh and if there is anything disney wedding, and/or, disney-mooning that you want me to cover let me know and I'll try and get something together for you! :)

Alright well i'm off to go get some stuff done on this rainy, thunder storm-y, Saturday... Talk soon!

Sitting in town hall

Hey guys,

So I'm sitting at town hall waiting to talk to "the passport guy" and hopefully get this done! Like literally I'm right now in a moth ball smelling old town hall. There is family with 3 kids under the age of 5 here trying to do passports for the little ones and its taking for ever because they don't want their pictures taken and are running a muck around the building... Lovely.

So this is as good a time as any to tell you about what excursions we picked. So for key west we decided on doing the conch train tour and visit the key west aquarium. I found a package deal on their website and it was pretty reasonably priced and its on about 3 hours long. After we check out those out we will probably walk around, hit some bars, act until its time to dock.

For grand Cayman we want to go to boatswaine! I love turtles and I'm psyched with all they have to offer there. I went on to the parks official website and their pricing was cheaper than booking through Disney and they provide the transportation. I figure that's a win win situation!

For cozumel we want to do the XRail off road to the jade caverns excursion. I am so excited about this one! It looks so fun and cool!!! I watched a YouTube video on it and the caverns are incredible.

For castaway cay we are going to just relaxxxx.... I showed Adam the adults only beach and I think that's where we will be alllll dayyyyy :)

Alright well the "passport guy" should be almost ready for us... I'll update you when we leave!

XOXO

Double Digit Dance!!!!

WOOOOHOOOO!!!!

I'm doing the double digit dance today!!!! This time 99 days from now i'll be at WDW enjoying my first day of vacation! I love doing the double digit dance because the trip always seems to come so much faster when you're counting down double digits :)

I finally got my "long form" birth certificate in the mail so thursday Adam and I will be heading to the town clerks office to try again for our passports. Fingers crossed there will be no more bumps in the road. Tonight to commemorate our 99 day mark, Adam and I will be sitting down and concretely deciding which excursions we want to do at the ports and when we want to make our Palo dining reservations. If you all have any suggestions please feel free to shout them out!

In other awesome news, I started submitting my blog posts to the Disney Driven Life blog. my blog posts will be up on the website every Saturday starting this week! I'm totally psyched to be writing for the Disney Driven Life and I love how warm and welcoming all of the members have been. I know it sounds corny but I've felt like I needed something to "belong" to for a while now. It just has been work, home, work, home, ect.... I haven't really had an outside of work and house work hobby. I'm really looking forward to blogging with them for a long time and making some new friends along the way!

Alright well i'm off to go make some dinner and talk cruise! I'll give you all an update soon!

Fancy Feet

Happy Thursday everyone!

I'm still waiting to receive my "long form" birth certificate in the mail from the town hall.... So the whole passport thing is still on hold. I hope the woman at the Clerks office was serious when she said she would send it out to me right away... I'm so worried about how long the passport process takes. We should get our passports before we leave for WDW, right?

Anyway I have a new love in my life and its making my tootsies so happy!!! First let me give you some background, I have terrible feet. I have needed surgery on my left foot for years but the surgery will put me in a cast and on crutches for three weeks. Its nothing too serious its just that whenever i'm on my feet for a long time or I wear certain shoes the pain will flair up to the point where I can't put any weight on my left foot without feeling like i'm stepping on broken glass.

These feet issues constantly effect when we are in WDW. I love walking around the parks but it always seems that by the end of the day my feet are swollen and need to be iced. Last year I bought these expensive adidas sneakers and Flip flops that were supposed to be really good for feet. They had this foam padding in them that contours to fit your feet in the most comfortable way. Well I wore the sneakers for the first few days and my left foot was killing me! Plus after getting off of splash mountain I had the "squishy foot". Anyone else HATE the "squishy foot" syndrome that you get when wearing sneakers on a water ride? So not only was my left foot in a ton of pain but I was "squishy" and uncomfortable. The next few days I decided I'd give the flip flops a try. My left foot stopped hurting and no "squishy foot" syndrome, but I got these nasty blisters. Seriously I can't win!

The only time I have no issue with my feet is when I'm barefoot....That's when a light went on! I figured google has never failed me before and I did a "best shoes for people who like to be barefoot"... That's when I found these....

Photobucket

I am now the proud owner of some of the best "barely there" shoes. There are a few brands who make them. I got the Fila Skele-toes because my little sister works for "Bob's" clothing store and was able to pick these up for me with her discount. I read a few articles about the benefits of wearing shoes like this (regardless of how funny they look) and the science and medical information I read was incredible. As I'm typing this blog post I have them on and I honestly feel like I'm barefoot. They are machine wash-able, made almost like water shoes so no "squishy foot" and they are supposed to be great for long walks, hiking, jogging, ect.

I'm hoping these will be the answer to not only my tired WDW vacation feet prayers, but my long term feet issue prayers as well.

Anyone else tried these or know people who have? What do they think?

Alright well i'm off to go get ready for a lunch date with my dad :)

Talk soon!

Defeated

So in my last post I said I was going to be getting my passport... didn't happen. I was (and still am) extremely frustrated. I printed out the forms, had both of our IDs and birth certificates and I looked up where we could apply for them. I thought I was neurotically prepared enough that this would be quick and painless.... how wrong I was.

Adam got home from work and we filled our forms and made copies of our licenses and headed to the post office in the next town over. I checked to make sure we could have our photos done and apply there. I also checked their hours of operation and they were open until 5. We arrived, excited and ready to get our ticket to travel. It was 3:30 and the man at the desk said "oh we only do passports until 3" WHAT!! I said I checked the website but he didn't care, he wasn't doing it. Fine!

We got in the truck and looked on our phones for another location. The closest was 20 mins away... I called to make sure they were open and that we could apply for them and they said yes so on we went.

As we got closer the weather turned terrible.... we had down pours and crazy lightening. So much for my beautiful hair and make up I had for the picture. We ran in and handed over all of our paper work. I thought everything was fine when the clerk said "I can't accept this"......::turns bright red::..... why not?!?! Apparently the birth certificates we had with the state seal and legal documentation on it is not valid. I guess the certificate was good enough for my marriage license and my drivers license applications but not for my passport.

The problem with this is that Adam and I not longer live in our home state. So now we have to make phone calls to town halls and have them mail us this insanely long birth certificate. So we are with out passports for at least another week. I was so upset because I thought I was doing the right thing and that this would be somewhat easy... I guess not!

Has anyone else ever had this problem?? Why the need for the extra long version of a birth certificate? Is this new? Why was my small one from town hall good enough two years ago but not now??

A traveling we will go!

Good Morning Everyone!

I thought I'd be able to sleep in today, seeing that it's my day off, but sadly the pups had me up bright and early... Seriously I think they are worse than kids sometimes! Since I'm up I figured this would be as good a time as any to write about what Adam and I will be doing today. Today is the day we finally go apply for our passports!

Photobucket

This is long overdue and it is so stupid that we've gotten them before. To be honest we've never needed them! All our vacations have either been to Disney World or to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. I'm rather excited to get our passports. To me it means we are unlocking a door to so many new travel experiences. We've been talking about how if we like cruising we'd love to continue cruising with Disney and go to different ports of call and visit new places. Whenever we've talked about it there has been a dark cloud of not having our passports always hanging over me. But not any more!

So while Adam is at work today I'm going to print out the application forms, gather all the paperwork we'd need, and look on Etsy.com for some cute passport book holders like this...

I'm also going to grab the cruise information we have so far and start looking at the excursions again. On the 75th day before the cruise I can make all the excursion plans and reservations for Palo..... Me being a neurotic planner, I need to have everything ready to go so on that 75th day I can call Disney Cruise Line and get it all done! Think I'll scare Adam if I make up an itinerary spread sheet???

Alright it's time for me to get out of bed, do my house work, and enjoy today! Have a great day everyone! Oh, and if you have any helpful hints or advice on applying for passports please let me know! :)

Important Announcement

Hey everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around. It makes me sad that I haven't been blogging on here lately. I do have alot to discuss with all of you! Let's start with why I haven't been blogging lately. I started my new job! It's a great job! I am now the Accounts Manager for a dental office. I'm still adjusting to my new routine and schedule, but I'm finally feeling like I'm getting the hang of it. So I will be blogging much more...Promise :)

I had another amazing opportunity come my way this past week.... You are now looking at the Disney Weddings and Honeymoon blogger for the DisneyDrivenlife.com.   ::Does happy dance around the room::   I have loved the DDL and their Podcast Inner Mouse to pieces! It is an honor to be writing for them and I am extremely excited about it. This does change how I am going to continue "Making My Fairy Tale."

I feel that writing about being a Disney bride, Disney weddings, and Disney honeymoons will be better on the DDL website than on here. I'll be able to reach a wider audience and I'll be able to keep "Making My Fairy Tale" as a more personal blog. This seems like the right path for me, and for the blogs, and for where I'm at in life right now.

Will be posting about lots of things for our next Disney trip and preparing for our first Disney Cruise this week! :)

xoxo,

Katie
